Joyce Wells, a Health Visitor in the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service, won the Heartfelt Service award for giving her own time to support families in need.

Nominating her, colleague Rebecca Scott-Williams said Joyce had learned that Tesco donated fresh food close to its sell by date to the local community cafe at St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon, to be donated to vulnerable clients.

“Joyce collects the food from the community cafe on her days off and delivers it to families that have been identified as needing some additional support.”

Joyce had also identified some mothers who felt lonely within their community and introduced them to the cafe where they can meet for tea and coffee.

Rebecca concluded, “Joyce is continuously monitoring and identifying the needs of  her caseload community and how she can support them to improve the outcomes for their children. She is proactive, motivational, intuitive and listens to her clients.”

At the award ceremony Joyce said, “I think all my team will be very excited to see me getting an award. It just shows that if you work hard you can get rewarded.”
