Apprenticeships combine on the job training with study (usually one day a week) meaning you can earn while you learn.

As an organisation we’re committed to life-long learning. It’s vital to providing the best health and social care now and in the future, and so our training arm The Learning Enterprise, offers more than 200 apprenticeship courses at various levels.

It usually takes between one and four years to complete a course although generally the higher level qualifications take longer to achieve. We offer apprenticeships both in our health and care services and in our corporate support departments but you’ll generally need to work more than 30 hours a week to be able to complete an apprenticeship programme.

You’ll find details of pay and benefits alongside the ad for each individual apprenticeship on our job search.

How does an apprenticeship work?

The apprenticeship is a work-based qualification, which means that much of your learning and assessment for the apprenticeship will be completed in your workplace. You will be observed in practice and you will build an apprenticeship portfolio of evidence. 20% of your apprenticeship is undertaken “off the job”. Your training provider will visit you and your work place facilitator in your workplace and will guide you on which pieces of work-based evidence are suitable for your portfolio.

Sounds great! How do I apply?

Applying for an apprenticeship is like applying for a job so you will have to go through an application process.  We list ads for apprentices to join our team alongside our regular job listings over on the job search. You’ll find them clearly marked with ‘apprenticeship’ in the title (you can use the keyword search for ‘apprenticeship’  if you’re only interested in apprenticeships with us) and all the details you’ll need about each of the opportunities we’re offering is included in the job ad.

If you work for Virgin Care already, you’ll find a list of apprenticeship opportunities for internal candidates on Jam.

If you’ve any questions about the apprenticeship programme, you can call The Learning Enterprise on 0300 3030 059.
