Local MP praises service at Purfleet Care Centre
Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price visited Purfleet Care Centre last week and praised the service’s team for the work they do caring for local people within her constituency.
Jackie was welcomed to the GP surgery, run by Virgin Care, by Chief Executive Bart Johnson, Kate Adams Service Manager, Dr Munshi the service’s Clinical Lead GP and their team at Purfleet Care Centre.
Dr Munshi told Jackie how the service is continuing to improve after receiving a ‘Good’ CQC-rated inspection last month. Jackie also heard how the service is helping people with mental health problems – something close to Jackie’s heart in her role as Minister for Mental Health, Inequalities and Suicide Prevention.
Since the inspection, more appointments are readily available and the service is continuing the work it has already started to improve the telephone system.
Kate Adams said: “We were really pleased to have Jackie visit our surgery, one she knows well, introducing her to the team and showing her first hand the work we’re doing in the practice to continue to deliver a good service for local people.”
Jackie Doyle-Price MP added: “Primary care is at the heart of the health and care system, so it was great to see and hear how the fantastic team at Purfleet Care Centre and Virgin Care have worked hard to improve the service from Requires Improvement in 2017 to one that’s now rated as Good by the Care Quality Commission.”
