Virgin Care provide Wiltshire Children’s Community Services across the county. We provide a wide range of children and young people’s services which look after the physical, medical and mental health and wellbeing of children and young people up to the age of 19 years old.

We’ve been providing care and support to children, families and carers in Wiltshire since April 2016, when we brought services together from five providers to create a Wiltshire-focused children’s services team.

We provide everything from public health nursing (also known as health visiting and school nursing), to specialist support for children and young people with physical sensory or learning needs and disabilities.

Wiltshire Council, NHS England and NHS Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group – who buy NHS care on behalf of the population in Wiltshire – tasked us with bringing the services from five providers into one, increasing the voice of children and families in the service and providing a joined-up service where families only need tell their story once and where families, no matter where they live, have access to the same services.

We deliver services in the community, in families’ homes, schools and children’s centres and all of our services will aim to see patients as soon as possible. In most cases, you’ll need to be referred to us by your GP, midwife or another health or education professional.

Our skilled teams are focused on providing great care, so we focus on their development and empower them to make a difference. The safety of every child we care for is our absolute priority and we have comprehensive governance and reporting systems to monitor the performance of our services.

  • Empowering families – we’re empowering our families by working with the community. Our services are working with their local county councils and education services on the SEND Pathfinder (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) which allows individual integrated health, education and care plans. This includes enabling families that have a personal budget to meet the outcomes of their plan and give them direct control of their child’s health care.
  • Responsive to you – we ask everyone using our service and their families for feedback on their experience so we can find out what we’re doing well and what we need to do better. We have a network of children and young people’s service leads to share examples of best practice and learn together.
  • Safe and consistent – we have to meet rigorous Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards. We run our own internal inspections and have robust governance and reporting systems to monitor how all of our services are doing, so you can be confident that your care, safety and privacy are our absolute priorities.
