What’s your role?

I’m a Registered General Nurse working at HMP Norwich.

What’s your background?

I have had various experience over the years but mainly worked within Medical Nursing, mainly Cardiology and I have also been a Site Manager.

What do you do?

I work within the healthcare unit at the prison, dealing with long term conditions, mental health, care of the elderly, alcohol and drug detox and any emergencies that arise.

What is your current area of focus?

I am very patient focused – my main focuses are health promotion, men’s health and I enjoy arranging professional development for staff.

What else do you look after?

I’m currently working as one of the CQC Project Team within the prison.

How has your role developed since you started?

I have gained more knowledge and clinical skills around mental health as well as clinical skills such as suturing and gluing.

What do you most enjoy about what you do?

Supporting and teaching junior staff. Audits and currently working towards the CQC Visit and health promotion.

What is the most challenging part of what you do?

The most challenging thing has to be dealing with patients with mental health problems.

Do you have a favourite story from your time working for Virgin Care?

We had an emergency situation and I really enjoyed how we all worked as a team and all knew each other’s roles.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of myself gaining my BSc Honours in Nursing Practice and really proud of both of my children.

What do you enjoy most about working for Virgin Care?

I love the level of support from the management, the opportunities for colleague development and the main focus on patient care.

Something about you?

I am a keen Chelsea FC fan despite their poor performance currently!

What makes you get up in the morning?

The fact that I enjoy my new role within the prison, that I am part of an excellent team and that I feel well supported in that role.
