Patrick McCall is a non-executive to the Virgin Care board and group commercial director of Virgin Group.
Starting 1987 Patrick’s career began when he joined a graduate trainee scheme with a degree in economics and agricultural economics from Exeter University.
As a director Patrick worked in a number of departments including equity research, equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, structured finance and project finance.
In 1997 Patrick joined Virgin, spending two years at Virgin Rail Group as planning director responsible for leading the teams that procured and financed over 130 new train sets worth over £1bn.
In addition, Patrick helped to negotiate the £2.1bn deal with Railtrack for the upgrade of the West Coast Mainline as well as the sale of the company’s maintenance operations to Alstom.
As a member of the company’s executive management team Patrick was involved in the planned floatation of the company leading to the sale of a 49% stake to Stagecoach.
In 1999 Patrick joined a leading telecommunications company as deputy chief executive prior to rejoining Virgin in 2001 as group commercial director.
As one of the Virgin Care directors Patrick sits on the Virgin Investment Advisory Committee which is responsible for advising the trustees on the group’s investments and providing the strategic direction for the company.
