What do we do?

After your child has turned 5, our team directly take over the care of your child from the health visitor.

In your child’s reception year, a member of the 5-19 Public Health team will review your child’s health needs in accordance with the Healthy Child Programme. As part of this service we will invite you to participate in a Health Needs Assessment Questionnaire and subsequently offer your child:

  • A height and weight check
  • Basic vision test
  • Hearing test if there is a concern identified
  • Onward referral to specialist services
  • Ongoing support & guidance throughout your child’s school years

All children, young people and parents/carers/guardians have access to the school nursing team.

Please type in your starting point in the box below to give you directions to the service location.
